In 2005 Dr Barbier started Medicine at the Brussels University (VUB) in Jette.
The first three years she combined her studies with top-level Amateur Golf as a player of the Belgian National Golf Team. She received her doctor of medicine degree, summa cum laude, in 2012.
Afterwards she started her residency in Orthopaedics and Traumatology in various centres, among the General Hospital Maria Middelares in Ghent, the General Hospital Delta in Roeselare and the Brussels University Hospital in Jette. In 2018 she successfully ended her residency and she became a Belgian board of Orthopaedic Surgery certified surgeon. In the same year she also received the Sports medicine degree at the Ghent University. During her residency she became particulary interested in Shoulder and Knee Surgery.
Further she did a Shoulder and Knee Fellowship at the General Hospital Monica in Antwerp. There she had the honour and privilege to work with Prof. Dr. O. Verborgt, Dr. G. Declercq, Dr. K. Lagae and Prof. Dr. P. Verdonk.
Since November 2022 she started as an Orthopaedic Surgeon at the St. Vincentius Hospital in Deinze. She is a staff member of the Orthopaedics Department together with her collaegues Coeman P. MD., Ackerman P. MD., Mahieu P. MD. en Mylle J. MD.
