Dr. Justine Barbier is a dedicated orthopaedic surgeon with particular expertise in shoulder and sports knee surgery.

She started her medical studies in 2005 at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel while also competing as a top-level athlete on the Belgian national golf team. In 2012, she graduated with the highest honours (Summa Cum Laude) as a Doctor of Medicine.

Dr. Barbier went on to specialize in orthopaedics and traumatology through training in renowned hospitals such as AZ Maria Middelares (Ghent), AZ Delta (Roeselare), and UZ Brussel (Jette). In 2018, she became a certified orthopaedic surgeon and also successfully completed an additional qualification in Sports Medicine at UZ Gent.

Her strong interest in shoulder and knee pathology led her to a fellowship at AZ Monica in Antwerp, where she further refined her skills in complex shoulder and knee surgery. She had the honour of working alongside leading specialists including Prof. Dr. O. Verborgt, Dr. G. Declercq, Dr. K. Lagae, and Prof. Dr. P. Verdonk.

As of June 1st, 2025, Dr. Barbier will join the orthopaedic team at AZ Zeno in Knokke as an orthopaedic surgeon and staff member. She is known for her thorough diagnostics, patient-centered care, and precise approach in both conservative treatments and surgical procedures.

Dr. Barbier offers specialised treatment for shoulder and knee conditions. This includes sports injuries as complaints due to arthrosis. She works in a caring and multidisciplinary environment, working closely with radiologists and physiotherapists to optimise your care.
